A New Chapter Begins in Kleinmond: Welcome to the Mthimkhulu Library!

We are thrilled to announce the official opening of the Mthimkhulu Library in the coastal community of Kleinmond, South Africa — a milestone that marks much more than the arrival of books on shelves. It marks the beginning of new opportunities for children to read, learn, imagine, and grow in a dedicated space built just for them.

In a region where access to books and safe learning environments is still a challenge, this new library is a vibrant and vital addition. It provides not only access to stories and knowledge, but also a nurturing space where curiosity is encouraged and education is celebrated.

A Collective Effort Across Communities

This inspiring project came to life through the extraordinary support of school communities in Cape Town. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:

  • St George’s Grammar School

  • Groote Schuur High School

  • The German International School Cape Town

Each of these schools played a key role in collecting and donating books, ensuring that the shelves of Mthimkhulu Library are filled with diverse and engaging reading materials. From fiction to educational resources, every contribution is a building block toward literacy and empowerment.

Special thanks go to our dedicated intern, Muzahida, whose tireless energy and organization helped sort and prepare hundreds of books with care and purpose.

A Space for Growth and Discovery

The Mthimkhulu Library is more than just a room with books—it is a beacon of possibility. Here, children will find stories that reflect their world and open doors to others. They'll have a place to do homework, discover new interests, and feel part of a supportive learning community.

Thank You for Making It Happen

To everyone who contributed time, books, resources, or energy: thank you. This project is a beautiful example of what can happen when people come together with a shared belief in the power of education.

As we continue to expand the Bookfeeding Project’s mission, the Mthimkhulu Library stands as a symbol of hope, collaboration, and the written word’s ability to shape brighter futures.

Stay tuned—we’re just getting started. 💛
