Our Workshops

Workshops for Stronger, Healthier Communities

At Bookfeeding libraries, we go beyond books by organizing hands-on workshops that address key community needs in health, food security, and income generation. Our goal is to create activities that offer multiple benefits—empowering people with practical skills that help solving specific challenges while ensuring the workshops are tailored to the skills of the community members and also create new business opportunities.

Our goal is to make our workshops simple, practical, and easy to replicate, so that those who attend can pass their knowledge on to others. We provide communities with all the necessary materials, ensuring they have everything needed to apply what they’ve learned. All the material is also locally available and easily accessible.

To reach as many people as possible, all workshop materials are also available for free download on our website. This way, the knowledge keeps spreading, empowering more individuals and communities along the way.

Reusable Sanitary Pads Workshops

These are held across several libraries, including in Uganda, Zambia, and Tanzania, where the focus is on addressing menstruation-related challenges. Workshops teach how to make reusable sanitary pads, which are financially accessible, environmentally friendly, and culturally accepted. The workshops also cover related topics such as menstruation education, myths, contraception, and business opportunities for pad production. This initiative is gaining traction in libraries like Visiwani in Tanzania and Kanyama in Zambia, with the aim of empowering women and providing sustainable solutions to menstrual health.

Food security Workshops

In many of the communities where we work, refrigeration is rare, and access to a diverse, nutritious diet is often limited. To address this, we focus on food security and nutrition by helping communities preserve seasonal foods and incorporate nutrient-rich ingredients into their daily meals.
